Alterna Bamboo Hair Products (cruelty free)

11.2.18

At the end of last year I started getting my hair colored at a salon instead of doing it myself at home with semi permanent dye. So I figured it was time to invest in some colour safe cruelty free products for my hair, I used the filters on Beauty Bay to see what my options were and ended up buying these 3 products from Alterna Bamboo. They are cruelty free, free of parabens, sulfates and synthetic color. I chose the abundant volume shampoo, the anti-frizz conditioner and the Kendi intense moisture mask.

The abundant volume shampoo does give my hair a little extra bounce but I definitely have to follow up with the conditioner and I apply the mask to the knots in my hair because it's quite a drying shampoo. It's not too intense though because in combination with the conditioner it makes my hair feel very light and it doesn't get greasy as fast as it used to! This shampoo contains eco-certified bamboo extract, maca root which energizes and gives your hair that extra volume.

The anti-frizz conditioner does exactly what it promises to do, it's incredibly rich and hydrating and you don't need a lot of product. It also contains bamboo extract as well as kendi oil. It doesn't weight down my very thin hair which is rare for something so hydrating. I haven't had any split ends whatsoever and my hair feels really soft every day!

I use this mask on all of my hair about once a week but I also use it to get the knots out of my hair every time I wash it. I have 2 places where my hair always gets tangled, I just take some of this mask and apply it while my conditioner is working. When I rinse it out, the knots disappear without making my hair feeling greasy or heavy at all!

I love that this brand is sustainable, cruelty free and works so well! I'll probably try the anti-frizz shampoo after I finish this bottle because I'm interested to see if that one will work with my hairtype as well!

I've been using these products for a few months now and I absolutely love them!
Which brand or brands are your favorite shampoo and conditioner?

Thanks for reading!
xoxo Christine

  1. I'm still looking for the right shampoo that works with my scalp. The new nivea micellair shampoo sounds promising though, that's the next one I'm going to try.
